Yesterday was full of fun and great educational tours of Hawaii.
We started out by going to Mokupapapa discover center which is the interpretation center for the largest marine sanctuary.
We then checked out Hale O Lono Loco Meiwah a fish pond with he mission to not just restore and fish ponds for harvesting purposes put also a place for educational and cultural purposes.
One of the biggest threats to the fish pond are poachers and it’s a pressing issue that is hard to mitigate for.
Perhaps the most interesting thing to see here was how much culture is connected to investing in this unique ecological place. Really the true defenition of having and demonstrating a sense of stewardship and connectedness to nature.
